Position Description
The Social Media Coordinator is a part-time volunteer position that will work closely with the program and fundraising teams to develop and execute a social media strategy to increase awareness and engagement. The Coordinator will utilize social media to raise awareness about animal welfare issues and the work of SurreyCats, promote fundraising events, and increase donations. By engaging the public, the Social Media Coordinator will contribute directly to increasing the capacity of SurreyCats to improve the welfare of cats in the Lower Mainland.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Social Media Coordinator will:

develop a social media strategy to support awareness campaigns and fundraising activities;

create engaging content based on activities and fundraising needs;

develop optimal posting schedules and post content regularly;

facilitate online conversations with audiences and respond to queries;

monitor activity and user interactions; and

compile analytics and monthly reports.

Time Commitment
This position is flexible but requires a minimum commitment of three months, approximately four hours per week (working from home). This position can be shared by two people.

Qualifications

Experience using Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.

Strong writing and editing skills, with excellent attention to detail.

Creativity and ability to develop engaging content (text, image, video).

Works well independently and as part of a team.

Background in communications, journalism, marketing, or fundraising preferred.

Knowledge about animal welfare is an asset.
