About Surrey Cats

Surrey Community Cat Foundation (Surrey Cats) is a volunteer-driven registered charity dedicated to improving the lives of cats and the people who care for them throughout Surrey and the surrounding community.

Our roots began in 2014 as a coalition of people concerned about the growing number of homeless and unwanted cats in our community. We became a registered society in 2015 and a registered charity in 2017.

Our focus is not only on helping cats in need, but on addressing the reasons cats become homeless in the first place. Through accessible spay and neuter programs, community education, food and supply assistance, and providing a First Response Neonatal Team, we work toward long-term solutions that benefit both cats and our community.

Our Mission

Our mission is to reduce the number of unwanted, abandoned and homeless cats through prevention, education and practical community support.

We believe that making spay and neuter services more accessible is one of the most effective ways to reduce cat overpopulation. We also recognize that sometimes people simply need a little help to continue caring for the cats they love.

Our Members

Surrey Cats is a membership-based society. Membership gives people who believe in our mission an opportunity to become more involved in the organization and help shape its future.

Annual membership is $10. Voting members have the opportunity to participate in general meetings and vote on matters brought before the membership, in accordance with the Society's bylaws.

Membership is separate from volunteering or donating. You do not have to be a volunteer to become a member, and becoming a member is another meaningful way to support Surrey Cats and the work we do in the community.

Our Board of Directors

Surrey Cats is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors responsible for the stewardship and governance of the organization.

The Board helps ensure that Surrey Cats remains accountable to its members, donors, community and charitable purpose. Directors provide oversight, help establish organizational priorities and policies, and work to ensure the responsible management of the charity's resources.

Board members are elected in accordance with the Society's bylaws. We welcome members who are interested in contributing their experience, ideas and leadership to indicate their interest in future Board service.

Spay & Neuter Assistance

If you live in Surrey and need help with the cost of spaying or neutering your cat, you may be eligible for our Spay & Neuter Assistance Program.

Applications are typically opened on the first day of each month, subject to available funding.
