Public asked to help furry friends this holiday season

The Surrey Community Cat Coalition is asking the public to donate food and money to help cats in need during the holiday season.

“This time of year is especially hard for low income families with pets,” says Lubna Ekramoddoullah, President, Surrey Community Cat Coalition (SCCC). “We want to ease their burden by providing pet food as well as spay and neuter surgery to prevent costs from an unplanned litter of kittens.”

The SCCC collects cat food donations all year round but is stepping up its efforts in December to prevent a food shortage during the holidays. The public can drop off food donations from December 2 to 9 at Pet Solutions in the Dell Shopping Mall at 10602 King George Hwy. Food purchased at the store for donation will be matched by Pet Solutions.

The public can also donate money, which will go towards the SCCC’s spay/neuter program for cats in low income households in Surrey. The SCCC often has a long wait list of cats and hopes to get them all spayed and neutered within the next few months. Information on how to donate can be found on our Donate Money page.

Let’s work together to make life better for these animals.
